At the end of my post on Donor Development yesterday, I reminded us all that we are going to make mistakes as we learn. Shortly after, I stumbled onto this article which talks about that very point.
Here’s a guy who missed a golden opportunity, but instead of beating himself up about it, he challenged himself:
- to get to know all kinds of people so he wouldn’t be intimidated or mystified by titles or people different from himself, and
- to always make an effort to be more accessible to people underneath him in the organizational chart.
What a great lesson about turning a mistake into a valuable learning opportunity. Here’s the article.
I’d love to hear from you if you have similar stories to tell.
